Bouchercon 2018: An Amazing Time!
Magnolia Murders
California ‘Cali’ May’s next adventure, Magnolia Murders, is now available as an e-book on Amazon. I have promised my First Readers and Reviewers a free e-copy and am waiting for my publisher to send me copies of the mobi and PDF files. For those of you who can’t wait, however, Magnolia Murders is available on Amazon for $2.99. Should you elect to purchase the e-book and provide an Amazon review, I will be forever thankful for your support. All my readers are very dear to me, and I love you all.

Bouchercon 2018: An Amazing Time!
To be honest, I deliberately kept my expectations of this event on the low side. I’d been to smaller book conferences (Left Coast Crime) and found the first one quite intimidating. However, surprise! I met my first author heros, Laurie B. King and Ann Cleeves at that event three years ago. From then on, I’ve been hooked. Imagine being a voracious reader, an aspiring writer, a lover of mystery, and finding my favorite authors so accessible!
Bouchercon was spoken of in awed whispers, as if it was the ultimate reader and writer experience. I’m here to tell you, it really is. Imagine my shock (yes, shock!) at meeting Lee Child, Ian Rankin, Deborah Crombie, and so many other personal favorites. The experience was right up there with meeting a rock star (for some.) I was so afraid I’d be too shy to speak, or say something so dumb they’d remember me for my stupid remarks. But I wasn’t, and I didn’t. All of them were gracious, friendly, and interested to meet their fans. Not one of them was intimidating.
The other component of this event that was so amazing was the surprising numbers of familiar faces: Terry Bischoff, acquiring editor for Midnight Ink, Anne Cleeland, a fantastic author who helped me rehearse my first pitch in an elevator at LCC 2018 in Reno, and Mary Sawicki and Marie Gamber, two of my first fans.
And what about new friends? Being new to Florida, I hadn’t yet met any local authors, and faced my first Bouchercon without someone to eat meals with, go to panels with, or get lost in the Vinoy with. Dee Speers and Wendy Dingwall came to my rescue, along with Carla Neggers, all accomplished authors. They are now wonderful new friends who let me hang out, laugh over shared observations, and meet our idols together.
Next Book: Magnolia Murders
Coming in 2018! Magnolia Murders
Cali May and Daniel Silvertree, newly married, drive to Sedona, AZ to stay at the Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast for their honeymoon. Hoping for a relaxing, romantic vacation in red rock country, Cali is confronted with a sobbing ghost, a missing child and sinister secrets of the innkeeper’s family, including the suspicious death of the patriarch three generations in the past. While the Tinsdale family squabble over line of succession to a sizable inheritance, including Magnolia House, Cali and Daniel begin to piece together a decades-old event that led to murder, past and present.
I’m hoping to finish this latest Cali May adventure sometime in June, but will keep you posted on my progress!

Cali May attends an artists’ retreat at the Tawnee Mountain Ski and Golf Resort in Northern New Jersey. When she and the other attendees arrive, they find the spacious, enclosed gondolas out of order. They must ride the ordinary ski lift to the summit of the Black Diamond run to a small lodge. Cali overcomes her fear of heights with difficulty to climb aboard a chair, but is horrified to see a figure fall to earth half-way up the mountain. Is this an accident or murder? Isolated at the top of the Black Diamond run with a group of creative souls, both dead and alive, she must find a murderer before he kills again.

My Next Book is Out!
My next book, Black Diamond Graves, is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
I was honored to be invited to contribute to a multi-author series, Tawnee Mountain Mysteries, published by Short on Time Books. I am one of seven authors who were asked to place their main character in the same location, Northern New Jersey, in the fictional Tawnee Mountain Ski and Golf Resort. (I was born and raised in a tiny little town called Pompton Plains, NJ, and consider it my home town.)
I am still seeking First Readers. If you would like to receive free e-copies of each of my books before the official publishing date, and provide a review on Amazon, please let me know at wendy.w.fallon@gmail.com. You will be helping me tremendously! The more reviews an author has, the more publicity Amazon provides. In return, you will receive occasional newsletters from me with information about future books, character naming contests, book conferences I will be attending, my inspiration, and questions to readers for which you can provide feedback. And other miscellaneous info!
I deeply appreciate everyone who has already purchased and/or provided reviews. I hope my books will continue to entertain you, and you continue to provide me with feedback. ~ Wendy

Left Coast Crime 2018 Success!
Left Coast Crime 2018 in Reno, NV was so much fun! I met new readers and writers, spoke with a few of my own idols, ate great food, and learned a lot of new things in a variety of panels. There were opportunities for everyone! I participated in the New Authors’ Breakfast, and gave a one minute talk in front of everyone about Death Remembers. I also joined authors Laurie Fagen and Margaret Morse to host a table at the Saturday night Banquet (picture below). I know the three of us had a fabulous time, and hope our guests did too!
I hope to see everyone again next year in Vancouver, BC Canada!
