Today I’m celebrating. Every morning I get out of bed and the sun is bright, the birds are singing and chattering and I really shouldn’t have any complaints. The very first activity today has been a drawing session and I now feel fortified for the remainder of the day.
I deliberately chose a few of the smallest items in my studio as my drawing subjects because I felt the need to remind myself of all of the small miracles in my life.

About Wendy Fallon
By day I am a technical writer, and by night and on weekends I am an artist and creative writer. Having lived in Phoenix, AZ with my husband Tim for 23 years, I find the urban wilderness in which we lived to be endlessly fascinating. Our home was tucked up against South Mountain, the largest city park in the U.S. The canal slashing across the base of the mountain provides inspiration for paintings, drawings, and sitings of wild coyotes, skittering fluffs of newborn quail, lizards and constant change.
I’m going to comment on my own post today. As I look at my drawings from the last two days, I see that although today’s shows a firm grasp of line quality, shape and some shading, yesterday’s drawing is much more alive and dynamic! I suspect attempting to draw in the moment of strong emotion is good for my art…! WF
